Another Corporate Welfare Alert!

It seems that in Canada farmers mean very little. Never mind that
thousands of Canadians are being affected by the beef ban, Bombardier
has been hurt by a 'downturn' in the economy.
Ottawa has been very reluctant to help out Canadian farmers devastated by
the beef ban. Yet at the same time they seem very ready to continue their own
hit parade of corporate welfare handouts.
For those in the West that have complained for years that this Liberal
government is overly biased towards ontario and Quebec now get very
much warranted ammunition in their calls to oust the Liberal party.
We are not talking about some small amount of corporate welfare here.
Bombardier is set to collect $1.2 billion in loan assistance. The cattle producers
have received only $190 million in assistance since the ban started. Estimates show
that the industry as a whole as already lost some $750 million so far.
While we here at the Canadian Democratic Movement do not agree readily
with corporate handouts, this one stinks a little more than the others.
The beef and cattle industry in Canada employees far more people than
the aerospace industry does and affects many more communities across
this great land.
So continuing with our trend of confronting those that make these
decisions we will pose to MP Pierre Pettigrew a few questions.
We encourage you do to the same. If he bothers to respond we will post
the entire response if any here on our website for all to see.
