From Shunpiking Online: http://www.shunpiking.com/OL0202/CanadianBullets.htm
“The Canadian company SNC Technologies Inc. (SNC TEC) is now part of a multinational consortium of small-calibre ammunition producers whose purpose is to supply between 300 million-500 million more bullets to occupation forces per year, and potentially for at least five years.
SNC TEC is the sole Canadian producer of military ammunition and produces over 70 per cent of conventional military ammunition used by the Canadian Department of National Defence. In addition, the company is also a current supplier to the Department of Defense of the United States for both small and large calibre products.”
The winning bidder on the Vancouver RAV line is the same SNC Technologies. The RAV line is a P3 deal that has not even started construction yet, but is now $340 million over budget. Translink (the agency responsible for RAV) says that the cost overruns will not be cast onto the taxpayers. Estimated project cost is almost $2 Billion, with public opinion still pretty much split right down the middle.
Our question: Should tax dollars be going to a company with ties to the Iraq war?
